Alex Lape
Chief Deputy Lape began his Law Enforcement career with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office in 1993 Serving as an Auxiliary Deputy.
He was hired as a full-time Deputy in 1994. In 1998 Lape was assigned to the SWAT Team. In 2002 Lape was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and given command of the SWAT Team. He was the first person promoted by Sheriff Dave Phalen.
Lape then was transferred and headed up the Community Services Division until 2010 when he became the Detective Bureau Commander. In 2012 he was promoted to Lieutenant and became the Patrol Bureau Commander.
In 2017 Alex Lape was promoted to Chief Deputy by Sheriff Dave Phalen.
He is responsible for the overall operations of the Sheriff’s Office, answering directly to the Sheriff.
Chief Deputy Lape resides in Violet Township with his wife Sherry and has three children.
Chief Lape and his family are members of the C3 church.
